Suzuki ignis. I’ve been researching them since and I really think one of these could be my next car. I’ll probably be making a change in a year or two (I wouldnt want to buy the first model year of a new car anyway) and this fits me better than anything else out there. I’m going to test drive one as soon as I get the time.

I consider all sorts of stuff, but I always come back to small cheap cars. The ownership experience is hard to beat for me. With the Twingo I’ve had excellent reliability, dirt cheap parts when stuff does go wrong and no complexity whatsoever. You only find that these days in city cars and maybe some sports cars. I love agile little cars to drive too.

They are pretty cool, aren’t they? I’m hoping for one with ~120-150hp by the time I’ll need a ‘more serious car’. Otherwise, the 200hp Yaris seems tempting.

Theyre 90hp standard which is enough for me as a daily, I’ll probably have something silly as a second car anyway. I always worry about having a powerful car to be honest, I dont always keep my right foot in check haha.

My current daily has 60hp. My “fun” car has 105.

I love this thing. If I were to make an impulsice decision, this is the city car I would choose. However a VW Up is a great choice as well, as is the new Twingo I guess.

The new Twingo worries me reliability wise to be honest. I havent heard good things and accessing the engine bay to work on it is a nightmare. Same for the Up actually.

While the front looks o.k., I’m just not so sure about the back.

Cars in Europe tend to be smaller than here, of course, so you’d be surprised what 90hp can do! :)

Hell, my 126p will have 24hp when I am finally able to import one, and it will be a riot! :P

Horsepower, weight, and rough power to weight ratios of my cars in order:

52 hp, ~2350 lbs, ~45.2 lbs/hp (1985 Jetta diesel, 5M)

92 hp, ~2000 lbs, ~21.7 lbs/hp (1988 Civic DX sedan, 4A)

52 hp, ~2200 lbs, ~42.3 lbs/hp (1986 Golf diesel, 5M (until 5th went out anyway))

116 hp, ~2200 lbs, ~19.0 lbs/hp (1992 Miata, 5M)

~150-160 hp, ~2800 lbs, ~17.5-18.7 lbs/hp (1999.5 Golf TDI, RC3, 11mm pump, Titan 502 nozzles, 5M)

140 hp, 2332 lbs, 16.7 lbs/hp (2000 Miata LS, 5M)

121 hp, 3050 lbs, 25.2 lbs/hp (2016 Prius Three, eCVT)

The Ignis probably doesn’t do so badly in power to weight... a mild hybrid with CVT is 880 kg (1940 lbs), and is 90 hp, for 21.6 lbs/hp. That’s better power to weight than either my old Civic or my Prius.

Not a lot of trouble (but a lot of fun) to get into as long as you need 7+ to 60. Drove an M140xi over the weekend, now that’s a license-losing rocket ship. Can’t even imagine what a Tesla P100 would feel like.

I feel with cars like that, all I have to do is twitch my foot and I could get a speeding ticket. Speed cameras make driving these days a bit of a chore at times.

The best thing about the Ignis is all the color options! Even though white also looks good on it.

Kinja'd!!!

If I had the money I would get one too, it’s fuel efficient, cool looking and made in Japan which is a plus in my mind.

I want that light blue with white pin stripes. Love bright blue cars.

I like to call my tastes eccentric, she calls them terrible. She may have a point, but she does drive a Pug 107 which is bloody awful in every way.

It works quite well in person, though maybe white isn’t the best colour for that angle.
